What does a pressure-free light strip mean?

1. Pressure drop phenomenon
Light strips (especially LED light strips) are made of multiple LED light beads in series. When the current passes through the lamp strip, the voltage gradually decreases with the increase of distance due to the presence of the resistor. This phenomenon of voltage reduction is called "voltage drop".
For example, suppose the input voltage of the lamp strip is 12 volts, when current flows through a section of the lamp strip, the voltage may drop to about 10 volts far from the power supply. This voltage drop will cause the light strip to become significantly darker at one end away from the power supply.
2. Characteristics of pressure-free light strip
The pressure-free light strip does not really have no pressure drop, but uses some technical means to minimize the impact of the pressure drop on brightness, so that the brightness of the light strip remains uniform over the entire length.
A common implementation method is to use multiple parallel power supply. For example, the light strip is divided into multiple small segments, each segment is powered separately, so that the current path of each segment of the light strip is short and the voltage drop is small, thereby ensuring the uniform brightness of the entire light strip.
There are also some voltage-free light strips that use special circuit designs, such as adding voltage-regulating chips or using low-resistance wires to reduce the impact of voltage drop.
3. Application scenarios
Pressure-free drop-down light strips are very popular in some occasions where brightness uniformity is required. For example, in the fields of stage lighting, architectural decoration lighting, automotive interior lighting, etc., the use of pressure-drop-free light strips can make the lighting effect more beautiful and professional.
For some longer light strip applications, such as the shopping mall’s channel decorative light strip, the pressure-free light strip can avoid the situation of “one head is bright and the other end is dark” and improve the overall visual effect.
